Hi all!
I know I’ve been pretty quiet on here recently (some major hurdles and all that “life gets in the way” stuff that I’m sure you can all relate with.
I’ve still been making time for the hobby, and am proud to announce that this week I’m finishing the final edits on my first official public offering of an adventure/campaign compatible with Mörk Borg.
Company of the Fading Star centers around the apocalyptic troubles facing the ruined city of Ashenford in the kingdom Wästland.
PCs take on the role of members of the fallen knighthood referenced in the module’s title - marching out for what may be their final quest.
Includes a section of house rules for getting better/advancement, combat, stress and insanity, new character generation and more, and provides an adventure guideline with lots of openings and suggestions for turning this 100+ page work into a full blown campaign for your table.
Mörk Borg has been much maligned by a lot of the OSR…and I was skeptical of its ability to provide satisfying long term play myself.
I’ve been running various games and campaigns with it for over a year now, and when running it classless, it can really handle pretty much any kind of game.
I’ve done superhero fantasy, grimdark, sci-fi and Viking adventures and campaigns with it.
It house rules crazy easy, and character advancement can be easily made “fast” for episodic play or slowed down for more “old school” lower powered progression.
Company of the Fading Star’s main story and arc could also easily be run using any of your favorite OSR ruleset with a few simple adjustments.
I’ll let you know when it’s available for download on my itch.io page.
I hope you’re all doing well (and welcome to all the new subscribers, holy cow!) and that you’re keeping your blades sharp.
Til next time!

You were my first OSR Substack follow- I found you on Reddit and it launched my love of Substack! I have a group eager to dive into Mork Borg and this sounds like a great way to onboard them. I will be one of your first downloads!
I was confused for a minute; got the Dying WORLD mixed up with the Jack Vance Dying EARTH stuff, which I really liked about 20 years ago.
