More great stuff! I really liked the passions in Pendragon and the way you are using them is - IMO - driving a really interesting story; e.g. I'm very intrigued to see how Aeric does at the upcoming tourney & his decision to not attend his mother's funeral - the selfish & cruel checks and loss of Love: Family are spot on! Also loving the idea of the parallel campaign - hearing about the big stuff will be a great spur to his developing adventures ....

Thank you Colin, I really appreciate your kind words and knowing some of you are following along. Good motivation to continue but I’m committed at least until I finish the sketchbook. 12/90 pages so far with the watercolor and ink!

Well I feel foolish now!! I meant to include in my comment that your art is adding a great deal to my enjoyment of your posts. I didn't envision Haldred as you have pictured him (dunno how I would have tho!) and in Gwyneth's pic her expression shows her cruelty (as you described her in your last post).

Great work - keep it up!!

Thanks so much. Haldred was originally going to be a younger looking guy with long black hair but I liked this sort of refined looking bastard. Aeric has long black hair but I’ve only drawn him with his helm and chainmail cover so far.

I like how you are telling Aeric's story.

As usual, Colin’s written my thoughts almost verbatim!

Seriously digging this and the pace of posts (hoping it’s sustainable and not draining).

Aeric’s leaning into his failure strikes me as Arthurian melodrama to the max! Something about the scene with Gwyneth in the courtyard just before riding out to Londinium reminds me immensely of The Last Duel with Adam Driver and Matt Damon (which isn’t Arthuriana, but whatever - close enough!); can’t help but think now that when Haldred and Aeric’s final bout comes it’s going to end muddy and bloody.

Ah, yes I love that movie!

Yeah the pace is easy I play once or twice a week in sessions of about 35-45 mins then do some sketching and artwork when I find the time.

This was played last week and notated in the journal then typed today.

This evening I’ll hopefully play the journey to Londinium and the tournament and see how things pan out there. 510 is a very busy year in Arthuriana but Aeric has his own plans…

I forgot to mention, sorry to hear about the fate of your 6E Leatherette! That said, you prompted me to hunt down a copy of 1e myself so I’m kind of excited to hear you’ll be moving forward with that one. Very excited for my copy to come in.

Honestly 1e is pretty beautiful. The exterior is nice the interior is cool black and white and it is super stripped down under 100 pages. I don’t think the 6e QuickStart is better but it does have a few fast add on systems - however 1e already contains those add ons in swift and simple rules formats.

Excellent as always, mate. Really putting me in the mood to do something with knights. Maybe a game or something with the same vibes. Always an inspiration!

Thank you! I think the feel of the game could really be achieved with damn near any system, and just bolting on the “Traits” and “Passions” system from Pendragon.

I have a draft of a game that might benefit from a riff in the traits and passions system. Might have to revisit it.

Seeing this adaptation of a standard classic tabletop game, I'm seeing some of my favorites that I've rarely or never gotten to play (like ARS MAGICA, or LEGEND OF THE FIVE RINGS) in a new light.

Yeah not sure I’d be able to get this to my table with my group. But doesn’t mean it can’t be played alone!!

I loved this - you can see Aeric developing as a character with simple rolls and complex analysis on your part. The time dialation is dope too - you can feel this man healing and hating all winter long. Art is excellent as always, CG.

You have no idea how much this means to me. You’ve been such a huge inspiration to me. Thanks so much.

Nice addition to the play-through, I am quite enjoying it.

My group just played through the first part of the 6e starter module, and I have played 3rd ed a few times in the past (30+ years ago), so it is good to see the system kind of works for solo. I have also drafted up a character for solo play, just the background so far, but 5th ed and the GPC. Your story is already giving me ideas, which is great.
