I've only recently discovered solo play, and decided to give it a try until I can put together a group to meet at least semi-regularly, and it is a surprising level of fun. This write-up gives a good glimpse into how to keep your world "alive" with adversarial activities when otherwise these characters might appear to the players to be stagnant obstacles.
Loving every second of it! I had a similar thought a while back of combining a few original modules together into a single campaign but it seemed so daunting I never took it anywhere. Kudos to you sir! Job well done!
Hi CG! Great write up and art! I wanted to hire a giant to help my PCs to free their villagers but the oracle said he wasn’t interested. They have only recruited Rauf the Unlucky. Does he sound like someone you want on your side??? lol
Fantastic write up as always! Very intrigued by the oracle system as I’ve not come across it before other than your last article. Are you doing much in your approach to magic items?
Giving the villains a turn is such a great idea. It’s funny how I would naturally do that if I was DMing a group, but it didn’t occur to me to do that in a solo game. I hope the dice are more your in your favor next time.
Well done! I had a crush Vandra Crowmother (what a name!) only to see her die so quickly. It's truly the OSR. Dice do not lie!
A most excellent write up! 🫡 And a heartaching farewell to the fallen party members (and the militia who fell to the hobgoblins)
I like the house rule 0 ho, attribute loss and scars. Will try that in one of my future solo and group plays.
Looking forward to the post on “What is so-and-so up to.
Thanks for reading Bill!
Guess next session starts with 2 more funeral pyres. A bummer for sure.

Hey cheers and welcome!
When I first heard the name "Vandra Crowmother", I got an image in my head that absolutely did not match your portrait of her.
Same.
Yeah, I liked the idea of a name that evoked an ancient crone with the reality being a beautiful younger person
Which oracles do you use?
I go over my basic d6 oracle in the previous article and a bunch of my other solo ones.
Besides the core b/c booklets and my simple oracle I’m not using any other tables this time. Massively freeing.
Henchmen and hirelings cost gp. New PCs are free.
Is the man-at-arms' daughter named "Teela?" Is she of age to apprentice?
Chandra haha but point taken (and he man reference registered.)
Would be cool to use her as a pc.
Also considering the evil cleric from moathouse may have a brother or cousin who is a champion of law and hates him…
Loving these summaries of your solo play!!!
Thanks so glad to hear that
This. Is. Amazing.

Thanks so much for checking it out Matt!

If he rolls enough nat 20’s they’ll have to change his name! Maybe you didn’t offer the giant enough coin?
The PCs didn’t get that far with the giant. But I’m thinking of having him follow them and maybe they can try again.

Thanks. Character death is a drag but without it, there’s not much drama or excitement!!
Nice write-up! Love the art - especially the sketch of Cromlech with his helmet flying off. I want this dude to survive and conquer.
Poor Feydras. May he rest in piece. Can't wait for the next post in this game!
