This article is very inspirational. I had a great session of Harpers Quest 2 recently: My character (a Harper, oddly enough) ended up with a racoon ally (he didn't talk, but we could communicate crudely). He possessed a crow-skull weapon which he threw at enemies to great effect. Together, we defeated the Great Forest Wurm using some magical stones and a scroll containing an "Icy Blast" spell (the Wurm was in a Druid infested corrupted forest). The unpredictability of what will happen is one of the draws of solo play (I never in a million years would have thought I would team up with a racoon on an adventure). It was great fun!
When is this system coming? Any chance of an ashcan or open playtest?
Should be out in a few short weeks.
Those who follow my Substack will get special early access to play test pieces of it. Your name just went first on the list!!
Count me in! Would love to do an actual solo play and write it up on pwm.
Excellent you’re on “THE LIST!”
found this through your post on reddit, pretty sick! Hope to see more!
I appreciate that thanks for checking it out!!
This got me very excited to start solo play and really gave me some good ideas to get started with.
Can't wait to try this out as well as get started on some of my own projects, thanks for the inspiration!
Excellent thanks!!! Solo really is a good time.
As an avid soloist, I really look forward to playing with that ruleset.
excellent! it should be live this week, i'll be sure to make a post breaking it down when it's available.
