Hey Matt - I’ve got a few: minimum one damage, flat armor reduction instead of rolled, exploding damage dice...I’m writing my Mörk Borg house rules into a little free pamphlet called “Black Steel Bastards” and should be done with it soon.
Honestly I've had a lot of enjoyment playing solo with just mythic one page and the maze rats tables. Those have been 2 things that have kept my solo games quick and fun. When I start pulling out large lists of tables, it really bogs down the pace of the game. IMO of course
Really great advice! Even though I wrote a solo game, it was literally a couple of decades ago. As I’m now writing and playing solo again, I’ve discovered there’s a wealth of of new ideas about solo play that have been created since then. I feel like I’m coming back to solo play as a newbie, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it!
I’m working on a series of random generators. The first one generates a Pantheon and a sort of pre-history of a world. The second one you play out the stories of a few heroes in that world. I’m just going to go with this one and see where it leads. I’ll definitely post something on Substack if it gets interesting.
Thoughts on starting your solo RPG as a totally self-generated from-scratch sandbox, vs using an existing campaign setting or module?
"Whichever you enjoy more" is a perfectly good answer, but I am wondering how much pre-existing material you've used, or whether it's always your own improv invention.
EDIT: Noted that you’re going through a mash-up of classic modules at the moment. Curious how that experience compares.
this is awesome. thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you stick around for part 2! I’ll try to have lots of actionable and usable stuff
Agreed, this is great!
I need to look into the tools you use
For sure check
Out some of those links (I’m in no way affiliated just like em!!)
Gotta ask -- what house rules do you use to speed up combat in Mork borg?

Yes on Oracles! I love One Page Mythic and I love the rest of my Oracles too. Actually I’m obsessed with oracles and random tables. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
